2012 RACES UPDATE
Warren County Winterfest 2012, and the next Jim Lobdell races, are scheduled
for Jan. 20-22, 2012 at Chapman State Park.

2012 Lobdell race registration paperwork, for the mid-distance and
sprints,is now posted to the Winterfest web-site. Canine weight pull
registration paperwork will follow at a later date. We plan to sign up 60
race teams on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration deadline will
be Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011. No late entries will be accepted.
Registration forms now come with the waiver forms included in the same file.
Every registration MUST be completed with a waiver before the deadline. The
forms for sprints and mid-distance are now available for download. The 2012
race promotional flyer is also posted on the web-site. We MUST receive the
forms by the Nov. 1 deadline.
Race purse: to be announced. No further comment now.
RACE RULES
1: ALL racers under 18 years of age are required to wear a helmet while
operating a sled dog team.
2: Scratching: to scratch before or during a race, you MUST inform the race
marshall.
3: Teamwork: Mushers must help other mushers. When the sled/team gets to the
Start Line, the only people permitted on the sled are the designated sled
team driver listed on the roster and authorized race personnel.The driver
MUST be properly registered and listed on the race roster.
4: SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY Safety gear is imperative. (Helmets for
under-18, cell phones, walkie-talkies, proper sled gear, dog bag, etc.)
Drivers MUST participate in the Driver's Meeting prior to racing.
5: "Pro" race classes must run the number of dogs listed. Ergo, a "6 Dog
Pro" team must start with 6 dogs, etc.
6: Mid-distance racers must wear an orange vest, have a working cell phone
and a working walkie-talkie, and they must have proper gear for themselves
and their dogs. Mid-distance teams can drop dogs at Dunham Siding and
Hickory Creek Wilderness Ranch (checkpoints) provided the team uses a
dog-bag.
